Wine: My experience

Wine. When I was younger, I just thought it was some fancy drink that my parents would have on special occasions. Once I got to college, I decided I wanted to try it. My first wine wasn't even really a wine; it was Strawberry Andre. It was very sweet, and the way it bubbled vaguely reminded me of a soda. I really enjoyed the Andre, and I was not keen on branching out from it. Why bother if I had found something so good? A friend convinced me that yes, I should try other things and that yes, there were better wines out there than Andre. So I tried Barefoot Moscato, and I was not disappointed. It wasn't quite as sugary sweet as the Andre, and it had a different kind of flavor to it. That become my go to wine, until I decided I could branch out a little more. I made the move to Pink Moscato, and I had a new go to kind of wine. The sweetness of pink mosacto was just right for me. I tried Pinot Grigio and Riesling, and decided that both were not sweet enough for my liking. So my current go to wine is still Pink Moscato.

I have not had much exposure to red wine, or any wine that isn't more like sugar. I try what I feel like I will like, which is pretty limited to sweet wines at this point in time. This semester, I really want to expand my pallet. I want to be able to say I have tried many different kinds of wine, and I want to find at least one red wine that I really like. I also want to learn how to pair wine with food, and where the best wines come from.
