Tasting: Terre di Poggio Montepulciano d’Abruzzo

Wine: Terre di Poggio Montepulciano d'Abruzzo
Variety: Laude
Region: Abruzzo, Italy
Year: 2012
Price: $8.95

Critic Review: This opens with dark aromas of leather, tobacco, cured meat, plum and prune. It shows soft tannins and loads of dark fruit on the finish.

My Review: This was not one of my favorite wines. I don't enjoy reds very much, and this was a rather pungent red. The wine immediately smelled bitter, and I was able to get the smell of prunes and earth. I did not have high hopes for the taste, and I was correct. This wine was very overpowering for me, and I was not a fan.

Overall, I did not like this wine. I think someone who enjoys heavy wine would enjoy this wine.
